11.19.09 Intuit Is Crafting A Niche Market With Its Small Business CRM Solutions By John VinsonUnless you're a complete professional, the idea of CRM can be a grueling, boring and sometimes overwhelming experience. You'll see on this site, all kinds of articles that present all kinds of jargon that the layman knows absolutely nothing about. Which is why Intuit has me interested to see how it performs in the future. If you've never heard of the site, it's basically a service for providing small businesses solutions when dealing with technology, the internet, and business management. After navigating the site for a bit, it's very impressive to see the simplistic, yet informative dialogue that Intuit has with it's users. You won't find any insider lingo or expert advice but you will find some intuitive solutions if you're a small business owner. Their latest endeavor has been releasing apps for many small businesses' day to day affairs. They have a particular category dedicated to customer management, or as we like to call it 'CRM'. In this category is an app that really stood out to me and has actually been featured on ZDNet, it's called: Customer Manager. Creative? No, but simple and effective at getting the point across. Here's a list of services that the Customer Manager provides: -- Automatically syncs with your QuickBooks data, so our customer contact database and financial data are always up-to-date and in one place. -- Import contacts from Outlook -- Customer view consolidates contact information, key financial indicators, pending tasks and special notes -- Do a quick search based on customer phone number, name or custom field - for instant access. -- Track customer appointments, office schedules and team meetings with a Shared Calendar. -- Shared Tasks provide a list of what needs to be accomplished, when work is due, and who is responsible for getting it done. -- Customizable fields help you organize customer information so you can see your customer list in groups with common traits such as "referred by", "preferred payment method", "warranty expiration dates" and more. The synchronization with Outlook has to be a welcome addition for small business owners, as I'm sure Outlook is on many mom-and-pops store's Quick Launch menus. Reading through the list of features, again you're met with simple and direct dialogue. While Intuit might not be an option for every CRM professional or larger corporations, it's good to see the smaller businesses have something modeled for them. I'd like to see them branch out and really diversify, as we could be looking at some stiff CRM software competition in the future. About the Author: John is a staff writer for WebProNews. |
